CVE-2026-33474Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated service crash via unbounded image preview processing

Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026

Resource exhaustion in Vikunja 1.0.0-rc0 through versions before 2.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to crash the service. GetPreview fully decodes attacker-supplied images, and resizeImage processes every expanded pixel without dimension or pixel-count limits. Any authenticated user with task write access can trigger the first uncached preview when attachments are enabled; concurrent unique images consume CPU and memory until the API degrades or crashes.
