UI redressing via unescaped configuration attributes
Published Apr 6, 2026 · Updated Apr 6, 2026
HTML attribute injection in Pi-hole Web Interface 6.0 through 6.4.1 allows attackers to alter settings-page presentation via crafted values. In settings-advanced.js, values returned by /api/config are concatenated into value attributes without escapeHtml(), so a double quote terminates the original attribute and injects new ones. Exploitation requires an administrator to import a crafted Teleporter backup or set a malicious configuration value; CSP blocks inline scripts, bounding impact to UI redressing and form manipulation.
