UI defacement via unescaped Query Log fields
Published Apr 6, 2026 · Updated Apr 6, 2026
Stored HTML injection in Pi-hole Web Interface 6.0 through 6.4.1 allows attackers to alter Query Log details via crafted EDE text. The formatInfo() function in queries.js inserts data.ede.text, data.upstream, and data.client.ip into detail-view HTML without escaping. An authenticated administrator must expand the affected row; CSP blocks JavaScript, limiting impact to UI defacement and phishing forms.
