Staff-session script execution via unescaped payment data
Published Mar 19, 2026 · Updated Mar 19, 2026
Stored XSS in OpenEMR 8.0.0.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in a reviewing staff member's browser. The payment handler stores inv_values verbatim in onsite_portal_activity.table_args, and portal_payment.php inserts it into a single-quoted script string without JavaScript encoding. A patient portal account can plant the payload, but execution requires a staff member to review the payment; the script runs with that staff session's access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
