OS command execution via renderer Node.js integration
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Code injection in Vikunja Desktop before 2.2.0 allows remote attackers to execute OS commands through a frontend XSS flaw. desktop/main.js creates the main BrowserWindow with Node.js integration enabled while isolation and sandboxing are absent, exposing Node.js modules to injected renderer scripts. Exploitation requires JavaScript execution through a separate frontend XSS and runs commands with the victim's OS-user privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
