CVE-2026-33328

Image-processing interruption via GIF dimension overflow

Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026

Integer overflow in libvips 8.18.0 and earlier allows local users to interrupt image processing with a crafted GIF on 32-bit systems. The nsgif bitmap allocator accepts GIF width and height values whose four-byte pixel count exceeds INT_MAX, causing the dimension product to overflow. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access to invoke the loader on a 32-bit build, and the documented consequence is limited to availability.
