CVE-2026-33320Public exploit

Process hang via unbounded YAML alias expansion

Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026

Uncontrolled recursion in Dasel 3.0.0 through 3.3.1 allows local users to hang its process by supplying alias-heavy YAML. Dasel's yamlValue.UnmarshalYAML handler recursively follows yaml.Node.Alias pointers without an expansion budget, bypassing go-yaml's guarded value-decoding path. Reachability requires YAML input to the CLI, library reader, or parse("yaml", ...) function; a 342-byte payload drove full CPU use and growing memory until termination.
