Cross-site scripting via unescaped SVG attributes
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Cross-site scripting in DiceBear allows remote attackers to inject script through unvalidated avatar options in generated SVG output. The createAvatar path interpolates backgroundColor in @dicebear/core and fontFamily or textColor in @dicebear/initials into SVG attributes without XML entity encoding. Exposure requires untrusted input to bypass schema validation and the resulting SVG to be served inline or as image/svg+xml, where viewing it can execute script in a user's browser.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
