Authenticated image disclosure via unescaped PDF form HTML
Published Mar 19, 2026 · Updated Mar 19, 2026
Improper output escaping in OpenEMR before 8.0.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to read server images through Eye Exam PDFs. interface/forms/eye_mag/report.php writes Eye Exam HPI and other answers into the report without text escaping, letting mPDF resolve attacker-supplied file URI image sources. Exploitation requires the OpenEMR encounter-notes permission and a patient encounter; the demonstrated result is disclosure of images readable by the server process.
