Private asset disclosure via unchecked asset identifier
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Authorization bypass in Craft CMS 4.0.0-RC1 through 4.17.7 and 5.0.0-RC1 through 5.9.13 allows remote authenticated users to read private assets. The assets/edit-image action loads and returns image bytes or a preview redirect for a user-controlled assetId without checking permission to view that asset. Exploitation requires a low-privileged account and an installation containing private assets, and it exposes file contents without reported modification or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
