Authenticated code execution via uncleansed field layout configuration
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Remote code execution in Pixel & Tonic Craft CMS 5.6.0 through 5.9.12 allows remote authenticated users to run commands via control-panel requests. ElementIndexesController::actionFilterHud() passes the request-controlled fieldLayouts array directly to FieldLayout::createFromConfig() without Component::cleanseConfig(), allowing Yii behavior and event keys to reach dynamic object configuration. A user account with the accessCp permission is required; crafted behavior and wildcard event configuration reaches shell_exec() and runs commands with the web process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
