OS command execution via unescaped Bazaar metadata
Published Mar 20, 2026 · Updated Mar 20, 2026
Stored XSS in SiYuan before 3.6.1 allows attackers to execute OS commands when a desktop user opens the Bazaar page. The Bazaar card renderer inserts package displayName and description values into HTML templates without escaping, and Electron exposes Node.js APIs to injected scripts. Exploitation requires malicious metadata to enter the community marketplace; loading its listing runs commands with the victim's operating-system privileges.
