Stored DOM XSS via unescaped embedded JSON

Published Mar 20, 2026 · Updated Mar 20, 2026

Stored DOM XSS in Jexactyl allows remote authenticated users to execute script in the browsers of users who view a crafted stored field. The wrapper.blade.php template embeds user and configuration objects with json_encode but omits HTML-safe encoding flags, allowing string data to terminate its JavaScript context. Exploitation requires control of a serialized field and a user to load the affected page, enabling session theft or actions within that user's browser context.
