Metadata modification via unchecked project item updates
Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026
Improper authorization in GitHub Enterprise Server allows remote authenticated users to alter issue and pull request metadata through projects. When a duplicate item is added to an existing project, column value updates are applied without checking the actor's repository write permission. Exploitation requires repository read access and project write access, and the impact is limited to unauthorized metadata changes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
