Account takeover via unescaped Map path labels
Published Mar 27, 2026 · Updated Mar 27, 2026
Stored XSS in Home Assistant Core before 2026.01 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in other users' browsers. A malicious location-capable entity name reaches the Map card's movement-history path label without neutralization and is rendered as active HTML. Exploitation requires a Map card with hours_to_show set and a victim hover over a history point; the script runs in the victim's session and enables account takeover.
