Transaction persistence via delayed authorization response
Published Mar 26, 2026 · Updated Mar 26, 2026
Incorrect authorization in EVerest Core before 2026.02.0 allows physically proximate attackers to keep a stopped transaction open. The authorization-response handler calls Charger::authorize(true) without checking whether RemoteStop already canceled the transaction, restoring the authorized flag before PowerOff. Exploitation requires a charging session and a delayed accepted authorization response after RemoteStop; the EVSE opens its contactor but retains the transaction, compromising billing and stop-policy integrity.
