JavaScript execution via unescaped Atom feed fields
Published Mar 20, 2026 · Updated Mar 20, 2026
Second-order XSS in Textpattern CMS 4.9.0 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through a crafted Atom feed request. Atom feed generation places the user-controlled category parameter into id and link href XML elements without contextual escaping. Execution requires a feed reader or CMS aggregator to insert the resulting XML content into an HTML DOM through an unsafe method such as innerHTML, enabling script execution in that consumer's trusted context.
