Unauthenticated server crash via malformed proxy requests
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
NULL pointer dereferences in LibVNCServer 0.9.15 and earlier allow remote attackers to crash VNC servers via malformed HTTP requests. The httpProcessInput function passes unchecked strchr() results from colon-less CONNECT and slash-less GET requests to atoi() or strncmp(), causing a segmentation fault. Exploitation requires both non-default HTTP daemon and HTTP proxy options, and repeated requests can repeatedly interrupt the embedded server process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
