CVE-2026-3284Public exploit

Process crash via extract-area bounds-check overflow

Published Feb 27, 2026 · Updated Feb 27, 2026

Integer overflow in libvips 8.19.0 allows local users to crash image-processing processes through crafted extract-area coordinates. vips_extract_area_build adds attacker-controlled left or top coordinates to width or height as signed integers, so wraparound bypasses its bounds check and sends invalid offsets to vips_region_copy. Exploitation requires local access to invoke extract_area with near-maximum coordinates and interrupts the affected process.
