Arbitrary file deletion via unchecked 7z entry paths
Published Mar 20, 2026 · Updated Mar 20, 2026
Path traversal in pyLoad before 0.5.0b3.dev97 allows remote attackers to delete files writable by the pyLoad process through crafted 7z archives. SevenZip.verify() joins an attacker-controlled entry name from 7z listing output to self.dest and calls os.remove() without rejecting ../ traversal. Exploitation requires a user to supply the archive password; deletion of pyload.db resets the database and restores default credentials after restart.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
