CVE-2026-32746Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Pre-auth code execution via unchecked SLC buffer writes

Published Mar 13, 2026 · Updated Mar 13, 2026

Buffer overflow in GNU Inetutils telnetd through 2.7 allows remote attackers to corrupt process memory via crafted LINEMODE SLC data. add_slc appends three-byte replies to the fixed-size slcbuf without checking remaining capacity, letting repeated SLC triplets overwrite adjacent state. The flaw is reachable before authentication and exposes the telnetd process to a crash or arbitrary code execution.
