Authenticated server crash via oversized JSON enum
Published Mar 20, 2026 · Updated Mar 20, 2026
Heap overflow in MariaDB Server 11.4.1 through 11.4.9, 11.8.1 through 11.8.5, and 12.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to crash it. JSON_SCHEMA_VALID() mishandles an overlong enum string and writes beyond its heap buffer, corrupting adjacent memory. Low-privileged database access is required; code execution additionally requires laboratory-level control of heap layout, while a crash is directly reproducible.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
