Credential disclosure via TDS7 encryption downgrade
Published Apr 17, 2026 · Updated Apr 17, 2026
Algorithm downgrade in all versions of Anviz CrossChex Standard allows man-in-the-middle attackers to expose database credentials via TDS7 PreLogin. The client accepts a manipulated TDS7 PreLogin encryption choice and continues the SQL Server connection without encryption, sending the configured credentials in plaintext. Exploitation requires a deployment configured for SQL Server and a network position that can modify the handshake; the disclosed credentials enable unauthorized database access.
