Worker crash or code execution via MP4 parsing
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Buffer overflow in F5 NGINX Open Source and NGINX Plus allows attackers to crash a worker or execute code via a crafted MP4 file. The ngx_http_mp4_module parser reads or writes beyond a worker-memory buffer while processing malformed MP4 metadata. Exposure requires a build that includes the module, an active mp4 directive, and attacker-controlled triggering of the crafted file's processing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.1.19 <1.28.3
