Prototype pollution in Apollo Federation affected releases allows remote authenticated users to alter process-wide object state through GraphQL input. Query-plan execution copies aliases, variable names, or subgraph JSON keys without fully rejecting prototype-inheritable properties, allowing writes to Object.prototype. Reachability requires a crafted client operation or a compromised subgraph, and polluted values can influence later requests in the same Node.js process.
