Protected-data disclosure via refresh error messages
Published Apr 23, 2026 · Updated Apr 23, 2026
Sensitive-data exposure in Google BigQuery before 29 January 2026 allows remote authenticated users to read protected query data. During a crafted materialized-view refresh, the runtime error path includes masked or filtered data protected by fine-grained access-control policies in the returned error message. Reachability requires authenticated permission to create or refresh the crafted view; disclosure is limited to data surfaced by the error.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
