CVE-2026-32316Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process crash via overflowing string allocation

Published Apr 13, 2026 · Updated Apr 13, 2026

Integer overflow in jqlang jq 1.8.1 and earlier allows attackers to crash the process through oversized string operations. In jvp_string_append and jvp_string_copy_replace_bad, 32-bit allocation calculations wrap before full-length data is copied into undersized heap buffers. Reachability requires an untrusted jq query that creates huge strings, or a fixed query processing enough attacker-controlled input; resulting heap corruption can interrupt the process.
