Application hang via zero-size ASF extension object
Published Mar 18, 2026 · Updated Mar 18, 2026
Denial of service in Borewit music-metadata before 11.12.3 allows remote attackers to hang applications by supplying a crafted ASF file. In parseExtensionObject, a zero objectSize yields a negative payload length, moves the tokenizer backward 24 bytes, and leaves extensionSize unchanged so the same header repeats indefinitely. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse attacker-controlled ASF data with parseFile or parseBuffer; parseStream is not affected, and the consequence is a persistent process hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
