Unauthenticated session control via certificate verification bypass
Published May 22, 2026 · Updated May 22, 2026
Authentication bypass in LizardByte Sunshine before 2026.516.143833 allows remote attackers to access protected HTTPS endpoints. The https_server.verify path calls cert_chain_t::verify in src/crypto.cpp, whose OpenSSL callback accepts an untrusted certificate after specified verification errors. No credentials or user interaction are required; access permits unauthorized session launch, control, and remote input, with host takeover limited to full-desktop deployments.
