Authenticated secret disclosure via dry-run template evaluation
Published Mar 12, 2026 · Updated Mar 12, 2026
Information disclosure in Backstage @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend before 3.1.5 allows remote authenticated users to read environment secrets. NunjucksWorkflowRunner populated the dry-run template context with default environment secrets, allowing expressions to resolve them into action inputs surfaced in the API response. Exploitation requires dry-run permission and a deployment configured with scaffolder.defaultEnvironment.secrets; disclosed values can expose server credentials.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
