SSRF via unvalidated CIMD redirect targets
Published Mar 12, 2026 · Updated Mar 12, 2026
SSRF in Backstage @backstage/plugin-auth-backend before 0.27.1 allows remote attackers to send server-side GET requests via CIMD redirects. The CIMD metadata fetch checks the initial client_id host against private ranges but follows redirects without reapplying that check. Exposure requires an unauthenticated auth flow and an off-by-default experimental flag; responses remain unreadable, and trusted-domain allowlists block the path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
