Unauthenticated code execution via SVG image reference
Published Mar 19, 2026 · Updated Mar 19, 2026
Command injection in Microsoft Bing Images allows remote attackers to execute code through the public Search by Image upload. The image-processing pipeline passes a pipe-prefixed reference from a base64-encoded SVG to a delegate-enabled decoder that invokes a shell. No authentication, cookies, session state, or user interaction is required, and successful requests execute with SYSTEM or root privileges on backend workers.
