CVE-2026-32147Network attack vector

SFTP chroot bypass via raw handle path

Published Apr 21, 2026 · Updated Jul 24, 2026

Path traversal in Erlang/OTP ssh allows remote authenticated users to modify file attributes outside a configured SFTP root. The ssh_sftpd module stores the raw client path in an open-file handle, and SSH_FXP_FSETSTAT later applies attribute changes to that unresolved real-filesystem path. Exploitation requires authentication, the nondefault root option, and a matching target path; contents remain unreadable and unchanged, while a root-run daemon enables privilege escalation.
