Phishing redirects via unvalidated SSO cookie
Published Mar 31, 2026 · Updated Mar 31, 2026
Open redirect in Discourse allows attackers to send authenticating users to an arbitrary external site through a client-set cookie. The StaticController enter action passes the sso_destination_url cookie to a cross-host redirect without checking its URL against configured provider domains. Exploitation requires DiscourseConnect Provider, a way to set the victim's cookie, and active login through /login; the resulting off-site navigation enables phishing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 2026.1.0-latest, < 2026.1.3
- Affected versionversion=>= 2026.2.0-latest, < 2026.2.2
