Sibling-file disclosure via unchecked FTP/SFTP path translation
Published Mar 11, 2026 · Updated Mar 11, 2026
Incorrect authorization in copyparty before 1.20.12 allows remote authenticated users to read sibling files through public FTP or SFTP shares. FTP and SFTP path translation joined an attacker-supplied remainder directly to the share's real path instead of routing it through VFS.canonical, so the shr_files allowlist was not enforced. The issue requires a publicly reachable FTP or SFTP server and a single-file share; guessed filenames expose only sibling files, not subdirectories.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
