Authenticated notification tampering via user-controlled account ID
Published Mar 11, 2026 · Updated Mar 11, 2026
Authorization bypass in StudioCMS before 0.4.3 allows remote authenticated users to alter any user's notification preferences. The updateUserNotifications handler passes the payload's user ID to the account update operation without verifying ownership of the target account. Visitor-level access is sufficient to disable administrator alerts, suppressing notifications about later account activity.
