Local file disclosure via avatar symlinks
Published Mar 19, 2026 · Updated Mar 19, 2026
Symlink traversal in OpenClaw before 2026.2.22 allows local users to read files through gateway avatar response surfaces. Avatar metadata resolution and Control UI serving follow workspace symlinks without canonical containment or file-identity checks, returning bytes from the link target. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access to control an avatar symlink; disclosure is limited to files readable by the OpenClaw process.
