Out-of-workspace file modification via unchecked mounted paths
Published Mar 19, 2026 · Updated Mar 19, 2026
Path traversal in OpenClaw before 2026.2.23 allows remote authenticated users with sandbox access to modify files outside the workspace. The apply_patch path resolver uses sandbox.bridge.resolvePath() for mounted paths without applying the workspace-root assertion used by other filesystem tools. Exploitation requires opt-in sandbox mode, the disabled-by-default experimental tool, workspace-only expectations, and a writable mount outside the workspace.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
