Local system crash via unchecked performance-domain lookup
Published May 1, 2026 · Updated May 1, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux Kernel 6.19 allows local users to crash the system via a nonexistent energy-model performance-domain ID. dev_energymodel_nl_get_perf_domains_doit() passes a failed em_perf_domain_get_by_id() lookup to __em_nl_get_pd_size(), which dereferences the NULL pd->cpus member. A local account and an exposed dev-energymodel netlink operation are required; the reported consequence is limited to system availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
