CVE-2026-31667

Local system hang via circular uinput locking

Published Apr 24, 2026 · Updated Apr 24, 2026

Deadlock in the Linux Kernel uinput subsystem allows local users to hang the system through force-feedback device operations. uinput_request_send() acquires udev->mutex while the force-feedback upload path holds ff->mutex, completing a circular dependency through input_mutex and dev->mutex. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access to exercise the affected uinput force-feedback paths; no network vector is involved.
