Local service interruption via DAMON memory leak
Published Apr 24, 2026 · Updated Apr 24, 2026
Memory leak in the Linux kernel DAMON sysfs interface allows local users to consume kernel memory through privileged DAMON operations. When kdamond stops before damon_call() handles repeat_call_control, the failure path leaves the dynamically allocated control object undeallocated. The interface requires CONFIG_DAMON_SYSFS and privileged access; repeated triggering can exhaust memory and interrupt the system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
