Local service interruption via nested driver locks
Published Apr 24, 2026 · Updated Apr 24, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux kernel idpf driver allows local users to interrupt service through asynchronous VC handling. The transaction manager reuses a completion object's raw spinlock while idpf_mac_filter_async_handler takes a bottom-half spinlock, creating invalid lock nesting on PREEMPT_RT. Reachability requires low-privileged local access, a PREEMPT_RT kernel, and active idpf virtual-channel processing; the published impact is limited to availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
