CVE-2026-31589Network attack vector

Unsafe memory access via stale mapping function pointer

Published Apr 24, 2026 · Updated Apr 24, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux Kernel 6.14 through 6.18.26, 6.19 through 6.19.13, and 7.0 allows remote attackers to access freed mapping memory. folio_unmap_invalidate() removes a folio from its mapping and then calls filemap_free_folio(), which dereferences mapping->a_ops after the mapping can be freed. The published assessment requires no privileges or user interaction, but the CNA has not disclosed a concrete trigger or consequence beyond the invalid memory access.
