CVE-2026-31571

Display-service interruption via late NV12 plane unlinking

Published Apr 24, 2026 · Updated Apr 24, 2026

Improper state handling in Linux Kernel 6.15 allows local users to interrupt display service through an i915 plane reconfiguration. plane_atomic_check() computes the requested state before unlink_nv12_plane() clears portions of it when a former NV12 Y plane becomes a normal plane. Reachability requires local userspace control of an i915 display plane, and the resulting state corruption affects availability rather than data confidentiality or integrity.
