CVE-2026-31489

Kernel memory corruption via controller double-put

Published Apr 22, 2026 · Updated Apr 22, 2026

Double free in the Linux Kernel meson-spicc SPI driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory by unbinding the platform driver. meson_spicc_probe() registers the controller for managed cleanup, but meson_spicc_remove() releases the same controller reference again. The path requires CAP_SYS_ADMIN in the initial user namespace, and the resulting double release can crash the host or corrupt kernel state.
