Kernel memory corruption via ISO-TP socket close race
Published Apr 22, 2026 · Updated Apr 22, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux Kernel allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through concurrent ISO-TP socket operations. A signal-interrupted isotp_release() frees an extended tx.buf while isotp_sendmsg() can still read it in isotp_fill_dataframe() for the final CAN frame. The race requires an ISO-TP socket with an extended transmit buffer, an active send, and a signal that interrupts the concurrent close wait.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
