CVE-2026-3147Public exploit

Memory corruption via negative CSV option indexes

Published Feb 25, 2026 · Updated Feb 25, 2026

Heap-based buffer overflow in libvips 8.18.0 and earlier allows local users to corrupt memory through crafted CSV loader options. vips_foreign_load_csv_build casts signed bytes from non-ASCII whitespace or separator strings directly to indexes in 256-byte lookup maps, so bytes at or above 0x80 access memory before the maps. Exploitation requires local control of a CSV load option on a platform with signed char; the demonstrated result is a process abort under AddressSanitizer and adjacent-memory corruption.
