System crash via unallocated event-log restoration
Published Apr 22, 2026 · Updated Apr 22, 2026
A denial-of-service flaw in the Linux Kernel idxd DMA driver allows local users to crash affected systems after a Function Level Reset. During configuration restoration, idxd_device_config_restore dereferences idxd->evl even when unsupported hardware never allocated the event log; the free path likewise lacks a null check. Reachability requires local low-privileged access, hardware without event-log error reporting, and an error that triggers FLR; the reported consequence is a system crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
