CVE-2026-31442

Kernel memory access via stale FLR scratch pointer

Published Apr 22, 2026 · Updated Apr 22, 2026

Invalid memory access in the IDXD DMA driver in Linux Kernel allows local users to access freed kernel memory during Function Level Reset. After a successful reset, the FLR path frees the saved-configuration scratch area without clearing its pointer, so a later allocation failure leaves stale memory to be accessed. Triggering the path requires root or CAP_SYS_ADMIN access to PCI sysfs reset attributes, and the published record bounds the consequence to an invalid kernel-memory access.
