Kernel compromise via ULE function-pointer table overread
Published Apr 6, 2026 · Updated Apr 6, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in the Linux Kernel DVB network path allows remote attackers to invoke an invalid function pointer via malformed ULE SNDUs. handle_one_ule_extension() uses the network-derived low byte of ule_sndu_type to index two 255-entry handler tables without rejecting the possible value 255. Exposure requires the DVB network ULE receive path; the invalid kernel control transfer can crash the system or execute code with kernel privileges.
